Science Park Graz / ESA Space Solutions Austria and Green Energy Lab are organizing the Space4Energy Hackathon in October/November 2022, as cooperation partners of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and Austria in Space. The goal of the Hackathon is to provide solutions based on satellite data and services, as an answer to specific challenges defined by industry players from Austria.
The Hackathon is open to all start-ups, SMEs, students and professionals (with or without a formed team) who are interested in developing and proposing a solution based on EO data which can tackle one of the 4 challenges related to wind parks, thermal grids, biomass and spatial energy planning.
The challenge partners are large companies from the Austrian Energy sector and end users of the proposed solutions (Energie Steiermark, Kelag, Austrian Federal Forests, Region of Salzburg) who have formulated specific challenges for which they welcome innovative solutions. Apart from cash prizes, the winners will get the opportunity to interact with the challenge partners and potentially interest them in a future cooperation.
On this link you will find more information about the hackathon, including a description of the 4 challenges and the registration link: https://www.sciencepark.at/space4energy/
If there is a challenge on the list that you find interesting and can provide a solution to, we invite you to register and take part! The Hackathon will be remote, except for the final event which is planned to take place in person in Graz.
